ALAN BERNHOFT  “BEATLESQUE ONE”

#27, top 100 Cds of 2008

Here we will not claim the relevant position in parade of successes.  Or critical and public recognition. Much less success in sales worldwide. So why is not the primary objective of this project.  Let’s just celebrate the tribute to a style of composition immortalized by Beatles.  As the name indicates, Beatlesque One is a collection of songs in the style of the fab four, created by musician, composer, actor, producer and writer of scripts, Alan Bernhoft.  The U.S. joined the California tracks projects, like the movie Desperately Seeking Paul McCartney and his children Playdate disc, to display their expertise in recreating in their own compositions, the aura unmatched in the 60s.

Bernhoft played the instruments, recorded and produced all the tracks in his studio AIM.  Did the exact sound of the sixties bands, with a perfect instrumental and vocal production. Penetrated the intricacies of melodic and metric frame of sixties pop and produced some of the most precious pearls of the sixties-not born in the sixties. If some songs may sound like mere tribute to the Beatles, others could have been saved by them and be in the pantheon of timeless classics.

The opening track, the energy and youth “Keep Your Hands Off My Baby” perfectly emulates the first stage of the Beatles.  The beautiful “Magic Everywhere” is a treasure that will not import it was composed yesterday or is left of Rubber Soul.  “Someday” Quico gets hit in the piano, with progressions of chords that regret any power Popper and a memorable chorus absurdly – hard to believe that was not written by the genius of Paul McCartney. It anthem of the 60s, had their feet up and the top of the tiozinhos sung today, with tears in her eyes, remembering the summer of love: “Sunshine Girl”.

Escrita para crianças, “Playdate” exala ingenuidade e beleza melódica e é outra que revive a fase ‘yeah, yeah, yeah’, dos Beatles. Writing for children, “Playdate” exudes melodic ingenuity and beauty and is another step that revives the ‘yeah, yeah, yeah,’ the Beatles.  “Winter Ocean Mary Go Round” travel to the psychedelic world of John Lennon and the lovely “Springtime Love, love the melody and heavenly vocal harmonies, recalling the Beach Boys were also sixty icons. Beatlesque One makes us miss a season they do not live, and thanks for the interest of talented contemporaries such as Alan Bernhoft, in perpetuating the art of true pop song.
