WATTS TOWERS
We always wanted to run down and see the WATTS TOWERS, so we jumped in the car and headed down w/ wikipedia info in hand. They’re very beautiful and impressive in person, but I have to say my daughters were incredibly spooked by the surrounding neighborhoods. Acres of projects and abject poverty in every direction. They really didn’t want to stop the car, much less get out. I haven’t seen such a depressing area since I left the South many years ago. You look around and think, “Why?” It’s 2008. This is America. “Why?” The nicest storefront we passed? “Gravemarkers”- literally a store selling gravemarkers for the dead.
